As the weather cools each autumn, Oregon forests and coastal dunes offer a rare culinary treasure. The wild Matsutake mushroom has a wonderful, sweet aroma, and a meaty texture that is truly unique. With a strong flavor often described as piney or woodsy, it is best used in a dish that can highlight the unique Matsutake flavor. We love Matsutake sautéed alone and seasoned with a small amount of soy sauce, fresh ginger, and garlic to complement its sweet flavor.
These are open cap matsutake, meaning that the veil between the cap and the stem is open. They are just as delicious as close cap and button matsutake, but at a more affordable price. Enjoy!
